My approachI meet with parents for an initial consultation to explore and assess what the issue is and what are the signs the parents or caregivers sees that are different or concerning. I have parents telling me their child is too anxious or worried, scared of going to school when he used to be happy, having an hard time following directions at home and/or school or appears too clingy or sad all the time. We assess together what the needs are and I provide suggestions for parents and individual play therapy to the child. I am trained in various modalities which include directive and non directive play therapy, gestalt play therapy, mindfulness, filial (parent-child relational) therapy for parents, zones of regulation, trauma and attachment, bullying prevention. I also have experience in working with school officials and school team that might be beneficial to the family. Family therapy is also recommended and a possibility.
