Frequently asked questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you're struggling with difficult emotions, life transitions, relationship issues, past trauma, or a general sense of feeling "stuck." It’s also valuable for personal growth, self-exploration, and improving overall well-being. If you're unsure, we can discuss this during a free consultation to see if therapy feels like a good fit for you. I encourage clients to commit to 4-6 sessions before assessing progress and determining whether continuing therapy is the right choice.
How do I get started if I am interested in therapy?
Getting started with therapy begins with an initial phone consultation to determine if we're a good fit. During this call, you can share what’s bringing you to therapy, and I’ll answer any questions you may have about the process. It’s important that you feel comfortable and safe with your therapist. If, at any point, you feel that we're not the right fit, I can provide referrals to help you find a therapist who may be a better match for your needs.
Where are you located?
I see clients both in person at my office and remotely via video or phone, depending on what works best for you. My office is located at 1801 Bush Street in San Francisco, CA. My office is conveniently near several bus lines.
What are your fees?
My standard rate is $250 for a 50-minute session. 75 or 90 minute sessions can also be scheduled at a pro-rated fee. I accept cash, checks, Zelle, and Venmo. Payment is due at the time of your session.
Do you take insurance?
I’m happy to provide you with a monthly receipt for services (a "superbill") if you'd like to seek reimbursement through your insurance, health savings account (HSA), or flexible spending account (FSA).
Do you have sliding scale?
I offer a limited number of spots at reduced rates based on financial need. These spots tend to fill up quickly, but if my standard fee is a concern, please feel free to inquire about sliding scale availability.
What if I have to cancel our appointment?
I have a 48 hour cancellation notice. Your therapy hour is a time specifically for you; therefore, if you are late or do not cancel your appointment with at least 48 hours advance notice, it will be necessary to charge you your full fee.
